About

“Women’s expanded roles in male dominated areas are critical to understanding and expanding their ability to take charge of their lives.”                –  Must Boys Be Boys: Ending Sexual Exploitation & Abuse in UN Peacekeeping Missions

I am a professional with over 25 years of experience in the humanitarian and development sector.  I have worked on diverse issues including supporting front-line workers to respond to gender-based violence, researching the needs of adolescent girls, men and boy survivors, tailoring humanitarian programs to LGBTQ persons, and empowering women’s leadership.  I have also worked to change organizational culture to end sexual harassment, exploitation and abuse.

I received my Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the University of South Carolina and studied for my Master’s in International Development at George Washington University. I also hold a training certificate from the Royal Tropical Institute of the Netherlands and a certificate in Research in GBV from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

I have worked in a variety of  humanitarian organisations including Refugees International, Médecins Sans Frontières, UNHCR, International Rescue Committee, and as Regional GBV in Emergencies Advisor for the UN in Asia-Pacific.  I have field experience in Europe, Latin America, West Africa, the Great Lakes Region, the Horn of Africa, Middle East, South and Southeast Asia and the Pacific. You can view my CV here

As a consultant, my clients have included many UN agencies including UNFPA, UNICEF, and WHO, as well as other organisations like the World Bank, International Committee of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (ICRC), the Organization for Security Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Asia Foundation, Save the Children Sweden, Care International, and the Women’s Refugee Commission. My goal is to use my skills and expertise to promote gender equality and to end gender-based violence.  Gender-based Violence is a critical human rights issue that impacts us all, and it’s essential that we protect everyone.
